A gentle, education-first starting point for patients in their 20s and 30s — skin health first, conservative injectables only when they genuinely help, and a surgeon's judgment behind every recommendation.
Many people first think about aesthetic care in their twenties or thirties — a line that stays after you stop frowning, skin that looks tired, lips you'd like a little more defined. First Steps is designed for exactly that moment: a calm, unhurried visit where you learn what is actually happening in your skin before anyone suggests a needle.
Most first plans start with skin health — daily sun protection, a simple evidence-based routine, and treatment of early sun damage or uneven tone. When an injectable makes sense, Dr. Arsenous uses conservative doses (what some people call "baby Botox") or a small amount of hyaluronic acid filler, and builds gradually. The goal is to look like yourself on a good day, not like you've had something done.
Dr. Arsenous is a board-certified general surgeon with more than 25 years of experience. That surgical grounding in facial anatomy is exactly why her approach to tweakments is conservative: she knows where the vessels and nerves are, how faces change over decades, and why restraint in your twenties protects your options in your forties.
You leave your first visit understanding your skin, your options, and what can simply wait.
Light, well-placed doses that soften movement without freezing expression.
Sun protection, a simple routine, and targeted skin treatments do much of the preventative work.
Decades of surgical experience inform where to treat, how much, and when not to.
Every plan is individual, but these are the kinds of goals younger patients most often bring to a first visit — and the gentle ways we usually begin.
We talk through what causes expression lines and whether treating now is worthwhile. If it is, a low dose of Botox in the frown muscles, reviewed at two weeks — plus daily SPF to protect the skin itself.
Usually no injectables at all. A simple at-home routine, sun protection, and — where appropriate — an IPL or light laser treatment for early sun damage and tone.
A proportion-based assessment and, if you want to proceed, a partial syringe of soft hyaluronic acid filler. It can be built up later, or dissolved if you change your mind.
Illustrative examples, not individual patients. Your plan is decided at an in-person consultation.
First Steps is about protecting your face for the long term, so it comes with firm boundaries.
An unhurried visit with Dr. Arsenous to discuss your goals, habits, and skin — with no obligation to treat.
Clear, prioritized recommendations: what helps now, what can wait, and what it would cost.
If you choose to proceed, we start with the lightest effective dose or the simplest skin treatment.
We check how you've responded and adjust — small changes over time, never all at once.
Most first-step treatments involve little or no downtime. Light Botox takes three to seven days to show, and small filler treatments may cause mild swelling or bruising for a few days. Skin treatments such as IPL can leave temporary redness or darkening of sun spots that flakes away within about a week.
Because we start conservatively, results are subtle by design. Many patients find that a good routine and a light, well-timed treatment once or twice a year is all they need for a long time.
This page is general information, not medical advice. Dr. Arsenous will review your medical history and discuss risks specific to you at your consultation.
First Steps begins with a consultation, and many first plans involve little or no treatment. When an injectable or skin treatment is recommended, you'll receive an exact quote before anything is done. Financing is available through CareCredit and Affirm, subject to credit approval.
Starting early doesn't mean starting big. Dr. Arsenous brings a surgeon's understanding of facial anatomy to every conservative treatment, so your first steps are safe, subtle, and set you up well for the decades ahead.

Sometimes. For people with strong expression muscles and early lines that stay at rest, a low dose can soften those lines before they deepen. For many others, sun protection and good skin care matter more. Dr. Arsenous will tell you honestly which group you're in.
It's an informal name for a lower, more conservative dose of a neuromodulator. It softens movement rather than stopping it, so expression stays natural. It also wears off a little sooner than a standard dose.
By starting small, treating only what's needed, and reviewing you at two weeks. Hyaluronic acid filler can also be dissolved if you change your mind, which makes a gradual approach low-risk.
No. Many First Steps visits end with a skin-care plan and no treatment at all. There's never pressure to decide on the day.
Injectables are medical procedures. A physician with deep anatomical training is best placed to choose safe injection points, recognize rare complications, and treat them promptly if they occur.
